I favorited this a while ago; but I suppose I'll add a comment now, better late than never?

Anyway; I love this photo! She is beautiful and I love how vibrant her tattoos are and the way they pop against the darker background. The lighting on her is simply amazing

She looks rather grown up to me; she exudes confidence and love for herself. Your idea of grown up isn't necessarily the right one, you know.

I think people should be allowed to express themselves however they like; you may tire of your tattoos in the future but not everyone will. I support tattoo acceptance in the workplace.

Here in Finland you can get a job even if you have visible tattoos, a mohawk, stretched ears, etc.. I've seen people who work at McDonald's with purple hair, stretched lobes, visible tattoos . . . I've seen a guy working at my bank with a visible tattoo and a beard . . . the medical assistant at the women's clinic I went to had gauged ears and visible tattoos . . . a friend of mine is a carpenter in a hospital, she has a visible tattoo on her neck, etc...

Discriminating against people who have good credentials because of their appearance is still discrimination. I'm surprised Americans aren't more up in arms about this issue. For being such a "free country", people aren't that concerned about the freedom to have control over your own body's appearance and still lead a productive life.

Here in the states, if you have tats and everything that usually follows. You can get a job as long as it's all covered. The guage earrings would have to be removed or any facial piercing removed or covered with bandaids. It's for both heigenic and professional reasons. Our military is the same, they will no longer except troops who have excessive tats, because it says a lot about their character, as well as everyone should be uniform and extreme tats are unexceptable. Now this goes across the board, from the kids who work @ McDonalds to Griffin who works with me as an engineer. I guess there's a stigma, that people who look like her are not mentally fit, low lives or drug addicts. Sadly at least one is usually the case. You'd think America would tolerate such things, being that there's freedom of speech and expression. The thing is, if you choose expression and even sometimes speech, you will find yourself a social piraha who most likely wouldn't be considered a productive member of society. Oh and if you look as such you can get jobs at a tattoo parlor and any work environment that finds that look exceptable, but there aren't many jobs that will hire you if you choose to express yourself in such a matter. Sorry to disappoint, freedom here to express, isn't at all what people assume about western cultures and I reside in NYC where everything goes, but it really doesn't. Who knows what its like in small town America.

There are plenty of people here in the States covered in tattoos and live pleasantly successful lives with normal careers. Thanks :)

You missed my point all together. Off topic, I saw her on some tattoo contest show, a few months ago, she was pregnant and hideous. My opinion of course.

Your point was?
Because it seemed like it was that you can't be successful with tattoos like that?

And that aside; it's her own life  how she looks isn't necessarily who she is.

What do you mean it says a lot about their character? A person can be responsible and hard working and have tattoos, you know. I think all it says about their character is that they might feel so strongly about something that they want a constant reminder of it--or it could say something different, that they just like to decorate themselves. Different people get tattoos for different reasons, I don't think it's right to throw them all in the same box.

I grew up in Southern California, but recently moved to Finland--it's surprisingly more "free" here in regards to this (of course, Finns have a real hard on for paperwork over here--my uncle's resume is a 2 inch thick packet of papers from every school he's studied at and every job he's had, with the most relevant placed in the front). Generally, if you have the best paperwork, you get hired (of course, you also have to look professional at the interview).

It's also against the law for companies to discriminate against you based on your tattoos and such over here. Hygiene is also important, of course, but I don't think tattoos are unhygienic. I don't see how ear gauges are, either, or lip or eyebrow or nose piercings--so long as the person takes proper care of them.

Wow! How long have you been gone from the state? You're absolutely correctly, jobs can't discriminate when hiring a person. What they do is simply not hire you. They also can fire you @ anytime and without any reason given. I get the tattoo here and there, but when you become a walking canvas, that's what I refer to as bad judgement and that's what human resources looks for. Kinda like if you have shitty credit or have been arrested, it all factors into a person's character. Its gotten worse over the past few years since the recession, jobs can be picky as they want. Hate to admit it, I was to have surgery a few years ago and the surgeon came in to intial my arm and I noticed he had two full sleeves and I'm not sure if it was the combo of the two, but I refused the surgery and asked for another surgeon. They gave me one and I had the surgery done three weeks later. He could've been the best surgeon @ Yale, but I'll never know, because he freaked me out as soon as I saw his wrist under his shirt. I guess that was discrimination, but @ that moment I was going with my gut.

In Finland, jobs can not fire you at any time without a given reason. They need documented paperwork showing that you are a detriment to the company (like I said, Finns get a hard on for paperwork). 80 - 90% of jobs are unionized, so if you get fired without a good reason, the union will throw a shit-fit and get the company in trouble.

What's the link between liking art so much you want to openly display it, and being irresponsible? I don't really see one. I think it has more to do with the fact that companies want to present a certain "image" and are more concerned with appealing to prejudiced customers than employee rights.

I don't think it's anything at all like having bad credit or getting arrested. Like you said that doctor could've been the best at the whole hospital. It's a prejudice people have developed, but it isn't always true about people, especially since more and more people are getting tattoos as the years progress. With each new generation there is less of a stigma to it. Most likely, when I am old (23 now), the USA will have accepted tattoos as normal.

Yeah, the recession is part of the reason I moved. I have dual citizenship because of my parents with Finland and the USA, and Finland's going to have an opening job market in the next few years when all of the baby boomers retire. There's a disproportionate amount of older workers in the country, which is why they've been relaxing their immigration laws to try and reel in the young blood.

My dear, I wasn't suggesting that she was a victim of no kind;however, I do believe she has a hardcore addictive personality. NOTE: I think her face is absolutely stunning. I have tattoos myself, but there in places that can only be seen by me and a select few. I did that purposely, because one day and believe me one day, I'll tire of them and most likely have them removed. I was merely stating a fact, that one day when she's older, she'll wish that she hadn't gotten all those colorful tattoos all over her body. I didn't mean to offend you, your work or disrespect the model, I'm just stating a fact. That's the great thing about freedom of speech here in the US. Que sara, sara! I shall remove you, per your request and best wishes to you. Happy New Year!
